Good morning to the excellences, my respected teachers
and my dear friends who came here
for having my speech about THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION IN ISLAM. Can you
imagine life without education? Life without religion? mmmm…I can easily say
that there will be chaos everywhere….Someone said that “Without theology, life
will be blind and without science life will be lame” the proverb points the
importance of education and science. Without those two things someone won’t
know the development of times. On the other hand without religion (theology) someone
will be chaos and do mistake in his life. One can
easily say that a human being is not in the proper sense till he/she is
educated. Without education, man is as though in a closed room and with
education he finds himself in a room with all its windows open towards the
outside world. Of course that should be followed with his faith to Allah SWT,
the One who is the Knowing.
When Adam A.S. was created, Allah S.W.T. said
to the angels to bow down. Everybody bowed down except iblees. The reason iblees
refused to bow down was because he said that prophet Adam A.S. was made of clay
and he was made from fire. How can fire bow down to clay? The angels looked at
it in a different way. They looked at the inside of prophet Adam A.S. because
Allah S.W.T. gave knowledge to prophet Adam A.S.
In the Holy Qur’an, Allah S.W.T. says in
Sura Al Baqarah, verses 31-34:
And He
taught Adam the names - all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and
said, "Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful."
They
said, "Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught
us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise.
He said,
"O Adam, inform them of their names." And when he had informed them
of their names, He said, "Did I not tell you that I know the unseen
[aspects] of the heavens and the earth? And I know what you reveal and what you
have concealed."
And
[mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate before Adam"; so
they prostrated, except for Iblees. He refused and was arrogant and became of
the disbelievers.
"So dear guest who blessed by Allah,
from the Sura, we all know that Allah SWT gives the special place for the one
who have knowledge and always try to seek it. Knowledge is the most important thing in
one’s life. It’s obligatory on muslim, male and female. The first
word revealed of the Qur’an was "Iqra"
Recite
in the name of your Lord who created
The Holy
Prophet of Allah (S.A.W.) has said:
طَلَبُ الْعِلْمِ فَرِيضَةٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ
This Hadith
means: “Seeking the [obligatory] religious knowledge is an obligation
upon every Muslim.” (Related by al-Bayhaqiyy.)
Education is
the starting point of every human activity. Allah created man and provided him
with the tools for acquiring knowledge, namely hearing, sight and wisdom. He
said in Al Qur’an sura An Nahl verse 78
And Allah has
extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made
for you hearing and vision and intellect that perhaps you would be grateful.
The Prophet explained that the superiority of the one who
has knowledge over the one who merely worships is like the superiority of the
moon over every other heavenly body. He also said
that the scholars are the heirs of the Prophets. Furthermore, the Prophet said that seeking knowledge is a
way leading to Paradise. He said: "Whoever follows a
path in the pursuit of knowledge, Allah will make a path to Paradise easy for
him." (Al-Bukhaari)
The first and most crucial obligation on us is to acquire knowledge
and secondly to practice and preach this knowledge. No man becomes truly a
Muslim without knowing the meaning of Islam, because he becomes a Muslim not
through birth but through knowledge.
Knowledge brings a great reward. When the knowledgeable
person dies, his reward with Allah does not cease when he dies, rather it
continues to increase so long as people benefit from his knowledge. The Prophet said: "When a man dies, all
his deeds come to an end except for three — an ongoing charity, beneficial
knowledge or a righteous child who will pray for him." (Muslim)
Dear all of the honor guests, so
education should be our main priority and placed it as the number one in every
aspect of our life, because we will not a 100 percent human being without
having education….. and how happy people who have education, they share it
without making their knowledge decrease, instead it will increase and become great reward for
them. From above all that I’ve delivered before, education has role in change
every aspect in our life to a good way.
Thanks for having me here, may
Allah SWT always shower you all His bless and give us time so we can seek
knowledge and be successful human being in the world and hereafter, Amin…amin
ya Rab…
